Twitter’s Race Towards Mobile and iPhone Apps
In order to get control of mobile users Twitter makes two important moves – launched an official Twitter app for BlackBerry and buying company that makes Twitter iPhone app. There are some rumors that company has already planned for iPad app.
Let us wait, whether this Twitter app is going to hit top iPhone applications in app store or not. But Twitter’s decision of buying company shows that Twitter has some high aims this time and they are planned for a revolution this time!
Twitter CEO Evan Williams announced late Friday that the San Francisco microblogging service has entered into an agreement with Atebits LLC's Loren Brichter to buy the firm's iPhone application, Tweetie.
Twitter will rename the application Twitter for iPhone and drop the current $2.99 price to free "in the coming weeks," Williams wrote in a blog post. It is hoped that this app will support both iPhone 3G applications and 4Gs as well.

Brichter will join Twitter's mobile team very soon.
"Loren's work won the 2009 Apple Design Award, and we will eventually launch Twitter for iPad with his help," Williams said.
The company said that BlackBerry has started offering first official Twitter app for their platform.
"People everywhere should be able to access Twitter without friction or confusion," Williams wrote in announcing the Tweetie deal. "Careful analysis of the Twitter user experience in the iTunes App Store revealed massive room for improvement. People are looking for an app from Twitter, and they're not finding one. So, they get confused and give up. It's important that we optimize for user benefit and create an awesome experience."
Twitter had always relied on third-party developers to come up with its mobile apps and applications for iphone, but Friday's announcements and the two mentioned news above indicates a different signal that could be a big topic of conversation when Twitter hosts its first developers conference, called Chirp, in San Francisco on Wednesday and Thursday.

Twitter Security and Social Media Marketing of Malicious Sites
Worrying about security issues for shorthand URLs? This is worrying about nothing according to a security firm Zscaler. In this report Zscalar states that Twitter has proved this by improving security as not to come under attack from malicious sites.
A number of other websites has also beefed up security, but Zscaler believes that this is not necessary. Many industry experts have blamed Twitter and its shorthand URLs used in tweets as an open invitation from malicious sites, but this recent report says otherwise.
Zscaler’s Julien Sobrier said that out of the 1 million Twitter URLs tested over a couple of weeks, only 773 links directed him to malicious content. However, Bit.ly faired a bit worse, with 40 percent of links leading to malicious sites. It seems that Twitters security measures are better than Bit.ly.
Sobrier concluded that the best way to protect yourself against such threats is with real-time scanning of the URL and its content. For details on how you do this, visit
